What do you see when you look in the mirror? Do you see yourself as someone who can do, who is capable, big and brave, or someone who can’t, someone who is incapable, timid, and small?
We have friends that had two Newfoundland dogs. They were big dogs (A male Newfoundland can weigh up to 150 pounds and stand 28 inches at the shoulder; females typically are 100 to 120 pounds) and they were gentle dogs. The thing is, they did not see themselves as big dogs. They saw themselves as small dogs and acted as if they were small dogs-they would try to fit themselves into the smallest spaces.
My sister has a Yorkshire terrier (they are typically 7-8 inches and weigh up to 7 pounds). Her dog thinks she is a big, fierce dog, and acts like a big dog-she barks and growls to show how fierce she is, and stands on furniture to show big she is.
How we see ourselves has an impact on our leadership ability and style, and our reality. Change your mindset and perspective and change who you are.
If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
